A yellow flowered shrub, blooming early in spring, which can be cultivated as a primitive vine. Its green stems give impression that the plant is evergreen. They grow up to 3 m and without support arch gracefully. Leaves are seasonal, trifoliate, placed oppositely. Leaflets are small (1-3 cm), ovate, dark green. The bright yellow flowers, small (2,5 cm) and placed one by one along the stems, next to buds. Flowering from February until April. Native to Northern China, introduced in Europe in 1844 by Robert Fortune. The plant is undemanding as to the soil. This variety can freeze during harsher winters. It should be placed in sheltered locations, in a mild climate e.g. West and North-West of Poland. Particularly suitable for training along walls and garden supports as well as without support, on sites well-lit but sheltered from direct sunlight, especially in the morning.
